Mirror Neurons
Mirror Neurons is a dynamic energizer that fosters quick connections through playful action matching. Participants move and interact, breaking down barriers and creating a positive atmosphere in a short amount of time.
When to use Mirror Neurons
Use this method at the beginning of a workshop or meeting to quickly energize participants, encourage interaction, and create a lighthearted environment.
What it solves
Initial awkwardness or hesitation in group settings; difficulty engaging participants early in a session.
How to run Mirror Neurons, step by step
- Distribute one 'We Connect Card' (or action prompt) to each participant. (2 minutes)
- Instruct participants to form random pairs. (1 minute)
- On the count of three, each person demonstrates the action on their card. If the actions match, they high-five; otherwise, fist-bump. (1 minute)
- Each person tallies their matches, swaps cards, and finds a new partner. (1 minute)
- Continue for up to 5 minutes, encouraging interaction and playfulness.

Variations
- Instead of cards, use verbal prompts or actions demonstrated by the facilitator.
- Introduce a theme for the actions, such as animals or professions.
