How to run Affinity Diagram, step by step

  1. 1. Brainstorm a large number of ideas or data points related to the strategic initiative and write each on a separate Post-it note.
  2. 2. Randomly place the Post-it notes on the whiteboard or wall.
  3. 3. Silently group the Post-it notes into related categories based on their natural relationships.
  4. 4. Allow for multiple rounds of grouping and regrouping.
  5. 5. Once the groups are stable, label each group with a concise and descriptive name.
