How to run Culture Mapping, step by step
- Introduce the concept of culture mapping (5 min). Explain the purpose and benefits of creating cultural maps.
- Present a cultural dimensions framework (10 min). Examples: individualism vs. collectivism, power distance, uncertainty avoidance.
- Divide participants into small groups (5 min).
- Ask each group to choose two cultures to map (10 min).
- Using the cultural dimensions framework, each group creates a visual representation of the two cultures (20 min).
- Facilitate a discussion about the cultural maps (10 min). Compare and contrast the different cultures and discuss potential areas of conflict.
