  • Encourage participants to think outside the box and challenge assumptions.
  • Create a safe space for experimentation and risk-taking.
  • Remind participants that there are no bad ideas during the initial generation phase.
  • Set a timer for each SCAMPER prompt to keep the activity moving.

Common challenges

  • Participants struggle to understand the SCAMPER prompts - Provide clear explanations and examples.
  • Ideas are too incremental - Encourage participants to think more radically.
  • Participants get stuck on one prompt - Encourage them to move on to the next prompt.
  • The activity feels overwhelming - Break it down into smaller, more manageable chunks.

Running it virtually

Use a virtual whiteboard (e.g., Miro or Mural) to create a shared SCAMPER board. Participants can add their ideas using sticky notes or text boxes.

Expected results

A comprehensive set of ideas generated through the application of SCAMPER prompts. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the SCAMPER framework and its potential for creative problem-solving.
