Participants use the SCAMPER framework (Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to other uses, Eliminate, Reverse) to generate new ideas and improve existing ones.

Materials needed
- SCAMPER prompt cards (one set per group)
- Pens or markers
- Whiteboard or flip chart
- Timer

How to run SCAMPER Remix, step by step
- Introduce the SCAMPER framework and its purpose (5 min).
- Divide participants into groups of 4-5 people.
- Provide each group with a set of SCAMPER prompt cards.
- Choose a concept or challenge to focus on.
- For each SCAMPER prompt (Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to other uses, Eliminate, Reverse), have participants brainstorm ideas for 3 minutes (18 min total).
- Record the ideas on sticky notes or a whiteboard.
- Discuss the ideas as a group and identify the most promising concepts (2 min).
- Share key insights with the larger group (5 min).
Facilitator tips
- Provide clear examples of how to apply each SCAMPER prompt.
- Encourage participants to think outside the box and challenge assumptions.
- Create a safe space for experimentation and risk-taking.
- Remind participants that there are no bad ideas during the initial generation phase.
- Set a timer for each SCAMPER prompt to keep the activity moving.
Common challenges
- Participants struggle to understand the SCAMPER prompts - Provide clear explanations and examples.
