How to run SWOT Analysis, step by step

  1. Introduce the SWOT Analysis framework (5 min). Explain the four quadrants and their meaning.
  2. Brainstorm strengths (10 min). Identify internal factors that give the organization an advantage.
  3. Brainstorm weaknesses (10 min). Identify internal factors that put the organization at a disadvantage.
  4. Brainstorm opportunities (10 min). Identify external factors that the organization could exploit.
  5. Brainstorm threats (10 min). Identify external factors that could harm the organization.
  6. Analyze and prioritize SWOT factors (15 min). Discuss the strategic implications and prioritize the most important factors.
