How to run SWOT Analysis, step by step

  1. Introduce the concept of SWOT analysis (5 minutes).
  2. Explain the meaning of each quadrant (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) (5 minutes).
  3. Have participants individually brainstorm Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (20 minutes).
  4. Share and discuss the findings as a group (10 minutes).
  5. Synthesize key themes and identify strategic implications.

Facilitator tips

  • Encourage participants to be realistic and objective.
  • Focus on internal factors (Strengths and Weaknesses) and external factors (Opportunities and Threats).
  • Use the SWOT analysis to inform strategic planning.

Common challenges
